Deep in the Amazon, a scientific expedition discovers something evolution forgot: the Gill-man, a powerful amphibious creature fiercely protecting his hidden world. What begins as the search for a prehistoric mystery becomes a tense struggle between human curiosity, fear and a monster who may be just as fascinated by the intruders as they are terrified of him.

Directed by Jack Arnold and originally filmed in striking black-and-white 3D, the movie brought Universal’s famous monster tradition into the science-fiction age.
